Senator Charles Grassley's 2004 Ambassador Tour to Iowa
 On August 14th StudyIowa, the student recruitment arm of Promoting Iowa Education Internationally (PIE),
hosted a reception and university fair for over 90 international diplomats and their spouses participating
in Senator Grassley’s 2004 Ambassador’s Tour to Iowa.
Brief remarks were given by Senator Charles Grassley, Congressman Jim Leach, Congressman John Latham, Mr.
Sergei Strokov, Agricultural Minister of Russia, and Dr. Siphiwe Mkhize, Agricultural Minister of South
Africa, Patricia Parker, President of PIE, and students Ms. Kieu Linh of Wartburg College, Yim Ling Lo of
Iowa Central Community College, and Emiliano Lerda of the University of Northern Iowa.
Fourteen PIE member institutions were able to participate in the event. Booths were set up in college-fair
fashion, and information about our schools was provided to the ambassadors, ministers, and other dignitaries
attending from 62 countries. Refreshments were served to all as the participants exchanged business cards,
and had spirited discussions regarding the international education experience.
Study Iowa is grateful to Senator Grassley for this opportunity to showcase Iowa’s commitment to
international education to this august group of international diplomats.
