PIE News 2005 P.I.E. Colombia Tour Dates: April 4-14, 2005 Locations: Barranquilla, Bogota, Cali, Medellin, Armenia List of participants: Ann Gogerty, Iowa State University of Science and Technology Greg Eide, Luther College Becky Hanson, The University of Iowa Kristi Marchesani, The University of Northern Iowa Kristina Thorarinsdottir, Southeastern Community College This was the first, reciprocal visit and goodwill tour to Colombia as a group from PIE. The visit was especially effective because counselors and advisors from various locations in Colombia who had visited Iowa in fall 2004 at our invitation worked hard to ensure that the tour went smoothly and that students were eager for the visit. PIE deeply appreciates all the contribution these counselors and advisors made to the success of the tour. Activities during the tour included visits to secondary schools and advising centers as well as participation in an advisors workshop. At different times and in different settings, PIE participants represented not only their respective institutions, but also higher education in Iowa and in the United States. Nearly all of the colleges and universities represented on this first tour, as well as a few other institutional PIE members, received applications from students interested in enrolling for the fall 2005 term, just four months later.
